Working With Jack

You Already Know Something About Trauma. So Does He.

If you’ve read Vertical Moments, or even just the Prologue, you know that Jack Stell doesn’t come to trauma therapy from the outside. He comes from inside the same rooms his clients are trying to find their way out of. That’s not a credential you can earn in a classroom. It’s the kind of understanding that changes what’s possible in a therapy room.

Jack sees clients in person and virtually through his practice, Trauma Recovery, LLC. He works with adults carrying trauma of all kinds: childhood adversity, military service, sexual trauma, complex PTSD, grief, addiction, and the accumulated weight of lives that have asked too much. If you’ve been told you’re too complicated, too much, or too far gone, you may have been talking to the wrong person.

How Jack Works

Jack is an EMDRIA Approved Therapist and Consultant, specializing in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) — one of the most thoroughly researched and effective treatments for trauma currently available. EMDR doesn’t require you to talk about what happened in detail. It works with the way trauma is stored in the nervous system, helping the brain process what it was never able to finish processing on its own.

He also draws on a range of other evidence-based approaches, integrating what each client actually needs rather than applying a single method to every situation. Twenty-plus years of clinical experience — and a lifetime of personal experience before that — have taught him that trauma doesn’t look the same in any two people, and neither does healing.
